You know the saying — “one person’s trash is another person’s Ashmont Hill yard sale find?” Or something like that. Lace up your walking shoes and go on a treasure hunt this weekend during the 44th annual community-wide yard sale in Dorchester.

Saturday, May 18, head to Ashmont Hill to discover lots of bargains, with a healthy dose of community spirit from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Since 1980, residents in this neighborhood have participated in this beloved annual event.

If you don’t know: Ashmont Hill is a section of the Dorchester neighborhood + it’s located between Peabody Square, Ashmont Station and Codman Square. The sale begins at the corners of Alban or Ocean streets off of Welles Ave.

While you stroll through the neighborhood, take in the view of the Victorian architecture + lush gardens that help make this pocket of Dorchester special.

Shoppers can find a wide variety of items, including furniture, potted plants, toys, household items, books, and collectibles. No matter what you’re looking for, there will surely be a bargain or two.

Over 40 homes are expected to participate and all participating houses will have handy dandy maps showing all selling locations.

Pro tip: Bring cash — like with most yard sales, the sellers will mostly be cash only.
