Cat cafe planned for Beacon Hill

Brick building in Beacon Hill

Get ready for a cat loverā€™s dream.

Boston is now one step closer to having a cat cafe ā€” weā€™re not even kitten.

The Beacon Hill Civic Associationā€™s Zoning Board of Appeal approved plans for the cafe portion of A Sanctuary Cafe, a Charles Street business proposed by local feline behavior volunteer Julie Nicolazzo.

What exactly is planned for the two-floor space? There would be a total of 10 resident cats, locally sourced coffee, and even a micro bookstore where every book purchase leads to a donation for a BPS student.

To spend quality time with the felines, customers would book an appointment + pay to hang with one of the storeā€™s furry friends.

If all goes according to plan and the business receives approval from the Boston Licensing Board, the cafe will open in spring 2023.
