This news is kind of a big dill. PKL, the company behind last year’s pop-up at Assembly Row, is officially opening its indoor pickleball facility tomorrow.
Find the space monkey-themed venue (yes, the logo is a space monkey) at 64 C. St. in South Boston. It’s part of the new Iron Works development, which is also home to Castle Island Brewing Co., Mei Mei, and B/SPOKE Studios.
If you’re asking WTF is PKL, here’s what to expect once the doors open at 11 a.m. tomorrow.

- Five pickleball courts
- Murals from local artist Blind Fox
- A lounge space for “faded monkeys”
- One restaurant + two bars (open until 2 a.m.)
If pickleball isn’t your game of choice, there are also four shuffleboard courts + cornhole boards and bags aplenty.
We know the first rule of pickleball is not to step in the kitchen, but you should certainly step over to the food and drink options at PKL. The restaurant menu was created by local chef and Chopped winner Christopher Walker, and all of the $13 bar cocktails are named after hip hop artists.
A pro tip from PKL’s Managing Partner Kaitlyn Coakley? Try the Megan Thee Stallion cocktail, which is basically a Painkiller with tequila.
What’ll it cost to play?
- Pickleball — $25 during non-peak hours and $50 in the evenings
- Shuffleboard — $15 for 30 minutes and $30 for an hour
- Cornhole — Free to play on a first-come, first-served basis
