Picture this: It’s Dec. 16, 1773, and the Old South Meeting House in Boston is packed with people. Around 5,000 colonists are gathered and angry about the new tax imposed by the British on tea. Among them is Samuel Adams, who’s about to give the signal that will lead to one of the most famous events in American history — the Boston Tea Party.

After the meeting, the colonists marched to Griffin’s Wharf and dumped 342 chests of tea into the Boston Harbor. This bold act of defiance against British rule helped spark the American Revolution.

Now, 251 years later, you can step back in time and see what happened during a live reenactment of the Meeting of the Body of the People on Monday, Dec. 16. Throughout the experience, you’ll stand in the same room as renowned patriots like Samuel Adams, Paul Revere, and John Hancock.
