Fat Thursday and Fat Tuesday are right around the corner on Thursday, Feb. 8 and Tuesday, Feb. 13, respectively. If you’re on the hunt for paczki, then you know you need to pay a visit to the Polish market in Dorchester. DJ’s Market is Boston’s oldest family owned Polish market and deli and they have been serving up traditional Polish fare for over 30 years.

If you don’t know — paczkis are Polish donuts, which are usually covered with powdered sugar, icing, or a glaze. Depending who you talk to, there are also many ways to pronounce “paczki.”

The sweet yeast dough is filled with popular flavors (think: raspberry, plum, lemon, rose, or plain with no filling) and start at $3 each.

You can find these sweet treats all year long but the bakery will only make these to order. Get your order in sooner than later.
