After a fall that drenched us with constant showers, there’s finally some guaranteed sun in the forecast.

The Connecticut Sun will compete at TD Garden next August, according to an announcement from the women’s professional basketball team. The New England WNBA team typically plays at Mohegan Sun in Montville, CT, although the Boston event will count as a home game against one of the other 12 teams. This venue change may increase visibility for the team; their home court can seat 10,000 people, while TD Garden can accommodate nearly double that amount, boasting a capacity of more than 19,000.

Tickets are not yet on sale, although fans can sign up to receive pre-sale information and notifications.

The news continues a welcome trend of increased women’s sporting events in Greater Boston. In addition to forthcoming women’s soccer and hockey teams in Boston, the LPGA will also tee off in Norton next year for the FM Global Championship.
