Grab your hats and get ready for the “most exciting two minutes in sports.” Saturday, May 4 is the running of the Kentucky Derby. While we unfortunately won’t be visiting our friends at LOUtoday or heading to Churchill Downs to see the 150th race, we can celebrate locally with these Derby Day events around Boston.

Joe’s Waterfront, 100 Atlantic Ave.
Starting at 4 p.m., the “Run for the Roses” watch party will begin with Derby-inspired cocktails and plenty of munchies. Take a picture with actual ponies from Hunter Haven Farm in Groveland, or try your luck at the raffle.

High Street Place, 100 High St.
The third annual “Down & Derby” event will kick off at 4 p.m. Make your way down the green carpet and enjoy classic cocktails and special menu offerings, as well as a 50/50 raffle.

Time Out Market, 401 Park Dr.
Don your fanciest Derby hat— it could win you a $100 Time Out Market gift card.

The Sporting Club, 450 Summer St.
The “Running of the Roses” party features a fashion show with designs by Mel The Clothing, live music by Elephant in the Room, a silent auction — and you can take home a Kentucky Derby glass.

Tall Ship Boston, 1 East Pier Drive, East Boston
At Tall Ship Boston’s second annual party, take a picture in the Maker’s Mark 360 photo booth, play lawn games, and compete in the raffle.

OAK Long Bar + Kitchen, 138 St. James Ave.
Make your reservations early to relish the à la carte food and drink specials that are available starting at 12 p.m.— like the chicken sandwich topped with pimento cheese, candied bacon, maple bourbon glaze, and macerated peaches. Derby Day attire is encouraged for the chance to win two Red Sox tickets.
