Faccia Brutta and Bar Pallino have opened their doors at 278 Newbury St.

The two new ventures come to Back Bay from Jamie Bissonette and Ken Oringer of JK Food Group. If that name sounds familiar, you’re probably a fan of their other local eateries — Toro and Coppa in the South End and Little Donkey in Cambridge’s Central Square.

Faccia Brutta

The direct translation of Faccia Brutta is “ugly face,” though the menu offerings will be anything but ugly. Think: coastal Italian cuisines like crudos and pastas. Sneak a peek at the opening menu here to start planning your order — we’ve got our eyes on the local scallops, bucatini + branzino.

There will also be a garden-style patio (with 40 seats) for plenty of people watching. Stop by for dinner service Tuesdays-Saturdays and make your reservation now, as they’re booking up fast.

Bar Pallino

Just beneath every great Italian restaurant is a natural wine bar or at least, that’s the case here. JK Food Group’s beverage director Jodie Battles is a partner for both spots, so Bostonians can expect some quality drinks.

Bar Pallino is inspired by modern Parisian wine bars and will provide 70+ selections. Not into the vino? You’ll also find amari, vermouths, and mezcals. The bar is open nightly until midnight, and isn’t currently taking reservations.
