How BOS-based Moderna gives back to the community.

Did you know? 39% of Moderna’s upper leadership (think: VP and beyond) is female — and 40% of employees identify as racially or ethnically diverse.

Moderna believes employees of diverse backgrounds drive innovation at the Cambridge-based pharmaceutical company. That’s why Moderna leadership makes it a point to attract + retain individuals that represent a wide range of ages, ethnicities, genders + more.

Here’s how that diverse team gives back to BOS:

1. Raising CMV awareness. Moderna’s #nowiknowCMV campaign draws attention to this (largely unknown) #1 cause of birth defects in the U.S..
2. Volunteering. Colleagues volunteer in our local community with organizations like Pine Street Inn.
3. Supporting future scientists. Moderna hosts school events through Breakthrough Greater Boston, and participates in science fair judging.
4. Launching the Moderna Charitable Foundation. In 2022, Moderna started a foundation to support public health organizations, access to quality healthcare, and science education, particularly among underserved communities.
