  • King Street Properties officially broke ground on the $915 million life science development Allston Labworks this week. The retail and residential development on Western Avenue is in the works without confirmed tenants and is expected to be move-in ready by the end of 2024. (Boston Business Journal)

  • The nonprofit King Boston is changing its name to Embrace Boston. The name change was inspired by the new memorial honoring Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King on the Boston Common. The organization launched five years ago and is working to be more inclusive of both Kings. (Boston Globe)

  • 66%. That’s how much development fees will increase for new commercial real estate projects in Cambridge due to a recent decision by Cambridge City Council. The fees are now $33.34 per sqft of a building’s gross floor area, compared to Boston’s $15.39 per sqft as of 2021. (Boston Business Journal)

  • Allston and surrounding areas — keep your eyes open for “Taken” star Liam Neeson. The actor has been spotted in Boston filming “Thug,” a new crime thriller where Neeson will play an “aging gangster.” He was also seen in the North End.   • Boston’s Office of Veterans Services will host the 2022 Veterans Parade on Sat., Nov. 5 in partnership with American Legion District 7 Suffolk County. The parade will begin on Boylston and Tremont streets around 11:30 a.m. and end at the Boston Common by 2 p.m. 🇺🇸

  • Harvard is the first area school that will require the new bivalent COVID-19 booster for students who plan to be on campus in January. Harvard University Health Services will offer the booster by appointment only. (Boston.com)

  • Express Edit has opened a storefront in the former Cole Haan location at 109 Newbury St. The smaller concept shop from the clothing chain Express is one of less than 12 locations, including one that recently opened at the Shops at Chestnut Hill. (Boston Business Journal)
