Working from home is the dream, right? Maybe at first — but like all good things, it can get old and a change of scenery is in order.

Coworking spaces encourage collaboration over competition as members typically come from a variety of companies, ventures + projects.

So, hop on the T and head into the city to explore one of these six companies providing office sharing opportunities.

Cambridge Innovation Center, 50 Milk St., 16th Floor + One Broadway, 14th Floor, Cambridge
CIC has multiple options, from flexible coworking desks to private offices for up to 80 people. The work spaces are furnished and include access to meeting rooms, fully stocked kitchens, virtual and in-person community events, and internet.

District Hall, 75 Northern Ave.
This event space offers meeting rooms for any size group and has a free public lounge designed for entrepreneurs, tiny startup teams, and freelancers. The lounge has free WiFi, writable walls, and flexible seating, plus access to a coffee bar to stay caffeinated.

    • East End Books is temporarily opening its new location at 300 Pier 4 Blvd. in the Seaport for the holiday season. The Provincetown-based book shop will offer wine and tapas once completed in spring 2023. 📚
    Development
    • Everett’s planning board approved Wynn Resorts’ vision for the nearly 13-acre lot across from Encore Boston Harbor. The first phase includes 1.8 million sqft across two hotels, three parking garages, a 980-seat theater, a night club, and a comedy club. The project is awaiting city council approval to allow gambling on property. (Boston.com)

    • The City of Boston will require that public places (think: restaurants, bars, banks, and gyms) turn on the closed captioning function on any televisions in public areas. The ordinance was unanimously approved to help remove barriers related to communication.
    Concert
    • If you like your chicken fried and a cold beer on a Friday night, this concert might be for you. Zac Brown Band will return to Fenway Park on Saturday, Aug. 19, 2023 with King Calaway for the “From the Fire Tour.” Tickets go on sale Friday, Dec. 16 at 10 a.m. 🎵

    • Local video game startup Neuromotion Labs, aka Mightier, has launched an app to help children with anxiety, tantrums, or ADHD learn how to be more aware of their emotions. The company is using $2 million from the National Institute of Mental Health for a new study that is open to children ages 6-14. (Boston Business Journal)

    • The Italian restaurant chain Bertucci’s has filed for bankruptcy and is closing five Massachusetts locations in Beverly, Brockton, Canton, Marlborough, and North Attleboro. The Somerville-based restaurant will continue serving up pizza and pasta dishes at 20 Bay State locations. 🍕 (Boston.com)

    • Former NBA All-Star, Celtics defensive player, and head coach Paul Silas has died at 79. He won two NBA championships with the Celtics in 1974 and 1976 and was one of five players in NCAA history to average over 20 points + 20 rebounds. 🏀 (7 News)
