Boston honors Crispus Attucks with Commemoration Day

City of Boston officials have declared that Sunday, March 5 is Crispus Attucks Commemoration Day.

Curious who that is?

Crispus was a former enslaved person from Framingham, a sailor, and an experienced dockworker who is more widely known as the first person killed in the Boston Massacre.

On March 5, 1770, tension rose to new heights between the British officers and the Colonists, and a fight started outside what is now known as the Old State House. He was the first of five killed that day. As the first casualty of the Revolutionary War, Crispus has become a symbol of freedom and patriotism.
