The Boston-based Holocaust Legacy Foundation has partnered with local architecture firm Schwartz/Silver Architects Inc. to design the new Holocaust Museum and Educational Center.

The proposed museum will be located off Tremont and Park streets, steps from the Freedom Trail. The museum is designed to reach six stories and cover 32,000 sqft, featuring interactive and immersive permanent exhibits + temporary exhibitions that will shine a light on current events.

One interactive exhibit is a hologram of a Holocaust survivor, allowing guests to experience a real-time conversation. Visitors can expect immersive components too, including walking through an authentic railcar, acquired from Macedonia and dating back to the 1940s.

The museum is scheduled to open in April 2026. Before then, the foundation team is awaiting approval from the Boston Planning and Development Agency, the Boston Landmarks Commission, and the Boston Civic Design Commission.
