Yes, you can enjoy fresh Italian food in the North End anytime, but you’ll want to say “boungiorno” this month during this particularly exciting time.
We’re talking Italian feasts, the multi-day festivals that honor a different Italian saint every weekend in August and draw in thousands of visitors with performances, processions + lots of food.
Here are five feasts to check out this month — mark those calendars and try not to get too hungry.
🍽️ Saint Agrippina Feast, Thursday, Aug. 3-Sunday, Aug. 6
Don’t miss the opening ceremony and procession on Thursday from 7 to 11 p.m. Then, stop by for Xtreme Queen on Friday, an Elton John tribute band on Saturday, and the closing ceremony + raffle on Sunday. Pro tip: Grab crowd favorite bites like the fresh shellfish and fried calamari.
🍽️ Madonna Della Cava Feast | Friday, Aug.11-Sunday, Aug.13
This feast coincides with the festival held in Pietraperzia, Sicily. Expect entertainment from New England party band “Steve Smith and The Nakeds,” KC Express! Disco, Funk and Soul, and Angelena and The Unit.
🍽️ Fisherman’s Feast | Thursday, Aug. 17-Sunday, Aug. 20
Boston’s oldest continuous Italian festival is known for candy apples, Italian sausages + fresh cannoli. This year’s event will feature the 5th annual Meatball Contest on Saturday and the Famous Flight of Angel on Sunday.
🍽️ Saint Anthony’s Feast | Thursday, Aug. 24-Sunday, Aug. 27
Follow along on Instagram for details on this festival, which began in 1919 and has been called the “Feast of all Feasts” by National Geographic Magazine. Stroll the streets to grab eats from 100+ food carts offering everything from arancini to gelato.
🍽️ Feast for Saint Lucia | Thursday, Aug. 24 + Friday, Aug. 25
Watch the candlelight procession on Thursday night at 10:30 p.m. and enjoy a culinary stage featuring local chefs + an open air piazza courtesy of Regina Pizzeria all weekend long.

For Kids
Boston Parks and Recreation Department will host the 2023 ParkARTS Boston Children’s Rec Fest on Tuesday, Aug. 15 at Franklin Park from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. This free event will feature arts and crafts, face painting, sports, and treats.
Health
Salem Hospital has opened its new main entrance and lobby completing the $16 million, five-year project. Part of the Mass General Brigham network, the new 10,000-sqft entrance includes a covered drop-off area, gift shop, security office, and updated seating areas. (Boston Business Journal)

Boston’s Roxbury Poetry Festival will take place on Saturday, Aug. 5 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Bruce C. Bolling Municipal Building. The free festival will showcase several award-winning writers, panelists, and curators, plus a keynote address from Hanif Abdurraqib.
