Boston, we know you take a lot of pride in our local teams. And we also know you love a good deal, so if you’re looking to score some new Bruins or Celtics merchandise, you may want to mark your calendar for Boston ProShop’s Black Friday sale.

The discounts will be storewide, including the new collection of Centennial jerseys and merchandise celebrating 100 years of the Bruins. We’re thinking that could be just the gift for the Bruins superfan in your life (even if that superfan is yourself).

Here are the details:
  • The sale is happening from 8-10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 24.
  • The discounts are higher the earlier you get there — the first hour is 30% off, and the second hour is 20% off.
  • Bostonians can shop this deal at the ProShop store located at The Hub (84 Causeway Street, Boston, MA).
  • Can’t make it in person? ProShop will be running an online sale, too. Sign up for the ProShop newsletter to be the first to know when the online sale happens.
We’re already eyeing a few items for our own shopping lists, like the charming vintage-style Bruins Centennial Cream V-Neck Sweater from the Centennial collection or this too-cute Celtics Plush Hot Dog Pet Toy.

Shoppers at the Black Friday event will also have the chance to enter to win Bruins tickets, signed merchandise, and more.

🎄 Get ready fir Boston’s new holiday tree

Boston’s annual holiday tree is heading to Boston Common

It’s the gift that Nova Scotia graciously keeps giving: The Boston Common’s annual holiday tree arrives today. The presentation of the 45-ft-tall white spruce continues a decades-old tradition that honors Boston’s 106-year friendship with the Canadian province.

The partnership began in 1917 when Boston provided emergency assistance to Halifax — Nova Scotia’s capital — after a maritime explosion devastated its harbor. As a gesture of gratitude, Nova Scotia sent the first holiday tree to Boston in 1971. The custom has prevailed for 52 years.

This year’s tree will arrive at 11 a.m. near the Boston Visitors Center (139 Tremont St.), following a 600+ mile journey from Canada via truck.

The official tree lighting ceremony will take place Thursday, November 30 from 6-8 p.m. Pro tip: If you’re unable to stop by the Common to witness the magic in person, watch the festivities live on WCVB Channel 5 starting at 7 p.m.
