Lyrik to bring dining, shopping, and open space to Back Bay

You might know the air rights project known as Parcel 12 in Back Bay — but the tune is changing. Lyrik Back Bay was unveiled as the name for Boston’s new public plaza and green space over the Massachusetts Turnpike.

The 450,000-sqft office and life sciences building will be home to CarGurus + the Lego Group. The development will also add 35,000-sqft of space for shops and restaurants and an all-electric citizenM affordable luxury hotel with 399 rooms, expected to open this summer.

The Lyrik name is inspired by area neighbors, including Berklee College of Music + The Boston Pops.

This mixed-use project aims to improve the pedestrian and bicyclist experience, help upgrade the MBTA bus station and subway headhouse, and create over half an acre of open space and an elevated landscaped plaza.

Let’s talk national and local restaurants plus retail coming to the public plaza.
As these retail offerings open throughout this year and next, the multi-level plaza will be activated with community programming designed to introduce and welcome the space to all (think: live music, public art, and seating).
