Today, Chef Leigh Whittaker will open the doors to her new restaurant Le Mari, which means “the husband” in French. The 1,300-sqft restaurant and bar on 259 Newbury Street was the former location of Bar à vin 1855. Now, it has been transformed into a Parisian-style eatery with a pair of patios, a mix of traditional seating, and a French mural along exposed brick.
On the menu, guests can try entrees like sea bass, steak frites, and Lion’s Mane. There are shareable items including scallops + duck fat gaufrettes along with pasta dishes like cacio e pepe. Plus, a seasonal variety of soups and salads.
In addition to an extensive list of wines, sip on cocktails like the “I’ve Studied Abroad” made with locally-owned Velo Vodka, or the "(Not) a Basic B*tch Spritz” with cherry, apple, mango, and cava. Bonus: Sip on a zero-proof option like the Phony-Negroni or Amaro Soda.
Le Mari will be open for dinner service Tuesday through Sunday from 4:30 p.m. to 2 a.m. Follow along on Instagram for updates.
