We caught up with New England Revolution Goalkeeper Djordje Petrović to see who he’s cheering for in the World Cup and what his plans are for the offseason.

Q: What are you most looking forward to during the Major League Soccer offseason?

A: Outside of off-season training and continuing to prepare for next year, I’m really looking forward to spending time with my family and friends. This was my first year living in Boston and the US. I grew up in a small town in Serbia, and before arriving here in May, I had never spent this much time away from them. I am happy to be back in Serbia for a few weeks.

Q: What is it like playing with Bruce Arena?

A: Bruce Arena is a legendary coach. It is truly an honor and a privilege to play for a coach like him. When I heard he was interested in bringing me to New England, it made it a very easy decision. I’m excited to continue learning from Bruce and the staff every day.

Q: Who are rooting for in the World Cup?

A: Serbia, of course. We are a smaller country, but I think they have everything they need to put together some good results this year and make some noise in the World Cup. They are my team, but I will be watching almost every game.

Q: How does training change in the offseason?

A: The biggest difference is that I get more rest in the offseason in between training sessions so I can recharge. I’m always continuing to work hard to prepare for the next season because staying in shape and exercising makes me feel better.

Q: What music do you listen to to pump you up before a big game?

A: In general, I listen to all types of music, but for the pregame, I have my own playlist that includes Serbian trap and rap songs.

Q: Do you watch any movies or television to relax?

A: When I watch a movie, I almost always choose an action movie or a thriller, but I also enjoy documentaries.

Q: Describe your perfect day in Boston.

A: I have loved the chance to explore Boston. I am still getting used to life in the United States. One of my favorite things to do is finding new restaurants or seeing the historical sites in Boston. I also am continuing to familiarize myself with American sports and have enjoyed cheering on Boston’s other sports teams. I recently had the opportunity to go to my first Celtics and Red Sox games, and I want to see the Patriots and Bruins next year.

Pro (fan) tips for the Revs 2023 season:

  • The Revs Holiday Ticket Pack features six games for the price of five (think: ~30% off box office prices). Bonus: Fans who choose this option will receive a special gift from the team + reserved parking at the stadium.
  • In our opinion, the best way to watch a match is in person. But, if you can’t make it to every match next season, we’ve got the perfect solution. For the next decade (yes, you read that correctly), Apple TV will stream all Major League Soccer games without any local broadcast blackouts or the need for a traditional TV bundle.
