Happy Valentine’s Day, Boston. In the spirit of celebrating love today, we’re sharing what we love most about our city + a few of your favorites too.

City Editor Jess’ picks:

I am a big fan of Boston’s brewery scene, specifically Trillium, Harpoon, Tree House + Aeronaut. There are so many options and there is no shortage of really good beer to try. Plus, there’s a whole type of beer named after the region — who wouldn’t want to learn more about New England IPAs at local breweries?

I love that there is so much to do and learn thanks to the rich history of the city. You will always catch me trying to find live music + shop local marketslet me know your favorite spots and shops, and I’ll give them a try.

City Editor Sara’s picks:

We have an amazing arts and theater scene in our city. I’ve seen some phenomenal productions at the American Repertory Theater and Huntington Theatre. Catching a show at Lyric Stage Company is high on my bucket list, too.

I also love how walkable Boston is, especially since I don’t have a car. We rank as the third most walkable large city in the country, which is no easy feat. It’s crazy how quickly you can move between different neighborhoods — walk half an hour in any direction and you’ll feel like you’re in an entirely new city.

BOStoday intern Maddy’s picks:

I love that Boston is such a college town. There are over 30 schools in the Boston area making it such a fun place for students not just socially, but also professionally. It’s exciting to explore the different museums, neighborhoods + restaurants.

The food scene in Boston has definitely shaped my last four years living here. I love trying new restaurants and cuisines from some of the amazing Boston chefs. I have a running list of 100+ places I’ve eaten at so far and am always looking for new spots to try.
