If you’re craving a European getaway this summer, no need to book an airline ticket. Our very own Seaport neighborhood will soon become home to a grand piazza inspired by idyllic town squares in Europe.

Last week, WS Development unveiled their plans for The Superette , a retail space expected to open in the spring or summer of 2022. The piazza, or public square, will feature plenty of seating + a tree canopy.

Designed by Kohn Pederson Fox (KPF), The Superette aims to be “an architecturally distinctive retail haven that reflects the way people live today,” according to WS Development .

Here’s what else we know about this upcoming addition to the Seaport:

  • It will be located in the first two levels of the Echelon Seaport luxury residential complex
  • The development will span an entire city block along Seaport Blvd + occupy a whopping 125,000 sqft. That’s a little more than three football fields.
  • Expect 40 stores, restaurants, and entertainment venues to visit
  • High-end boutiques will include Rag & Bone , Scotch & Soda , and Vince

Plus, it wouldn’t be a Seaport spot if it didn’t lean into all things trendy. Bostonians will get to experience a full-service salon from Seaport Barbers , a speakeasy cocktail bar called The Garret Bars , and Puttshack , an indoor mini-golf concept.

While the full list of retailers is still to be announced in the coming months, we’d say there’s plenty to be excited about already.
