A surefire sign that summer is officially here? The Boston Common Frog Pond is reopening its seasonal spray pool, complete with a 70-ft spray plume, this Tuesday, June 27.
The opening day celebrations will start at 11 a.m. and feature a visit from the pond’s official mascot: Frog Pond Freddie. There will also be food and drinks on-site, including an ice cream truck.
The Frog Pond spray pool — which is supervised and staffed by youth workers from the Boston Youth Fund — will be open daily from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Labor Day. Kiddos can also play on the nearby Tadpole Playground, which has water features + frog-themed statues.
Pro tip: While you’re in the area, take a $4 ride on the carousel or find your zen at one of the free yoga classes.
Name something considered normal in Boston, but nowhere else. That’s the prompt a local Instagram account posted recently, and the answers are amazing.
My personal favorites? “Using a chair to reserve a parking spot” and “Experiencing three seasons in 24 hours.” Send me an example and maybe I’ll start creating another list of fun local norms.
