Pro tip: Grab some brain fuel before at Saus, Buenas, or Mike & Patty’s.

The Burren, 247 Elm St., Somerville | 8 p.m.
Pro tip: Don’t forget to try the traditional Irish pub food on the menu, like Guinness beef stew and fish and chips.

Opening
  • Stella Newton announced it will open this week. The restaurant comes from Chef Evan Deluty, whose original Stella restaurant in South End closed in 2020. The Newton location will focus on takeout dining, with a menu of Italian classics like meatballs, bolognese, and pizza.
Seasonal
  • While many Mass beaches are closing, a favorite is opening for the first time in three years. Southie’s L Street Beach will open tomorrow, July 25. The beach had been closed during the $31.2 million renovations to the BCYF Curley Community Center, with further delays caused when a threatened bird species nested on the beach.   • Deloitte has signed on for 138,000 sqft of office space at Winthrop Center. Reminder: The Winthrop Center was designed in collaboration with MIT professors to be incredibly energy-efficient as the largest Passive House office building in the world. Deloitte will take over the space in 2024. (NEREJ)

  • Boston University, BankProv, and six other organizations have joined the Mass Fintech Hub, aiding its state-wide mission to advance fintech (read: using technology to improve and automate financial services). Small business owners, listen up: Applications are officially open for 2023-2024 Boston Public Market Entrepreneurship Forum.

Powered by Citizens, the forum will offer business development to minority and female small business owners in the New England area. Plus, eligible forum participants can compete in the Boston Public Market incubator competition — a contest to win grants up to $5,000 + free rent space in Boston Public Market.

Here are the details.

The Entrepreneurship Forum

  • Participants will take one business seminar a month, from October 2023 to April 2024.
  • Topics include developing a business plan, branding, and marketing.
  • Check your eligibility before you apply.
  • Applications are due Tuesday, Aug. 15.

The Incubator Competition

  • Eligible forum participants can compete in this May 2024 contest.
  • Last year, a pitch style competition determined the winner (Lifebloom candle company).
  • Grants of up to $5,000 + one year of rent-free space in the Boston Public Market are up for grabs.
