Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum: Inventing Isabella

Plan a visit to the Hostetter Gallery this month to dive into the life of Isabella Stewart Gardner, a Bostonian who used art, fashion, and photography to share her identity. While we can always visit the museum she created, there is still much about her that we don’t know — this exhibition will look at pictures she chose to preserve of herself and examples of her wardrobe to analyze how she created her public image.

Massachusetts native Drew Weissman is part of a team that won the Nobel Prize in medicine for their work on mRNA vaccines against COVID-19. Weissman grew up in Lexington and will be invited to the award ceremony on Dec. 10 in Oslo. (Boston.com)

The MBTA has restructured to add a new group that will oversee the organization’s long-term climate goals. The new office will work with state officials on sustainability planning and projects like electrifying the bus fleet by 2040. (WBUR)

MIT graduate Apolline Derocheis prepping to launch a new startup called Cappella in November that will use AI to help translate baby noises. The app will train AI to differentiate various baby noises and analyze how babies respond to different sounds to find the right calming noises for each infant. (BostInno)
Arts
Local nonprofit organizations can now apply for grants of up to $10,000 via the 2024 Boston Cultural Council. The deadline to apply is Friday, Nov. 17 at 11:59 p.m.

The Foo Fighters will bring the “Everything or Nothing At All Tour” to Fenway Park on Sunday, July 21, 2024. Tickets to see the “Best Of You” band go on sale Friday, Oct. 6 at 10 a.m.

More SPACE grants coming soon
24 businesses receive $2.8 million from SPACE Grant program

The Office of Economic Opportunity and Inclusion is now accepting applications for the second round of SPACE grant recipients, providing up to $200,000 in funding to individual businesses to open a new storefront.
In addition to the grants, the city will assist each business with needs like lease negotiation, accounting, taxes, and marketing. The Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce + the Associated Industries of Massachusetts are also offering free one-year memberships for additional support.
In the second round of applications, up to 20 businesses will be selected to receive funding. The deadline to submit an application is Tuesday, Nov. 10 at 5 p.m.
