The final touches are coming together for this new Jamaica Plain brewery. | Photo by @drawdownbrewing
Something new has been brewing in Jamaica Plain. Drawdown Brewing Company will open a brewery and taproom on the ground floor of 3200 Washington St. this month.
The 2,500-sqft space will accommodate ~36 indoor seats and has an indoor capacity of 100 people. There will be bar-style seating, in addition to cozy tables. When the weather warms up, the outdoor patio can seat ~20.
This Egleston Square brewery is owned by Jamaica Plain resident Liz Nicol and joins the list of women-owned breweries in the Bay State (think: Redemption Rock Brewing Co. + Twisted Fate Brewing).
The business drew inspiration for its name, of all places, from engineering jargon. Allow us to explain. Drawdown is a term used in civil engineering for lowering the surface elevation of a body of water — aka the same process of how beer is removed from a keg. Learn more about the reason for the tiger logo on their website.
Drawdown Brewing is expected to offer four beers when it opens this month, including a New England IPA, a cream ale, an alt bier, and a porter. The food menu will be limited to light bites, although the team plans to partner with local food trucks for more dining options.
Follow along on Instagram and Facebook for updates as we anxiously await the first pour.

ICYMI: November Crossword Puzzle
November was stuffed with events and happenings in our city. | Photo by @greeneyedmonstah
The countdown to 2024 is on — but before we tailspin into the December holiday madness, let’s give November a moment in the sun. From local Thanksgiving eats to more public transit updates, we have a plate full of things to look back on.
I’ve seen a few of the “We’re from Boston” videos floating around my feed recently. This one from @NewEnglandDad has been my favorite so far, with mentions of fluff and iced coffee all year round.
Tell me: What would be included on a perfect “We’re Bostonians” list?
