Boston’s food scene is heating up with another celebrity restaurant opening. We’re ready to dish all the details of this hellish good news.

Yesterday, Michelin-starred chef Gordon Ramsay opened his first Boston restaurant. The BOStoday City Editors went over to Back Bay to check it out. Here’s what you can expect.

Ramsay’s Kitchen is located at the Mandarin Oriental (774 Boylston St.), formerly home to the Bar Boulud Boston restaurant, which closed in 2020.

Currently, the restaurant is open for lunch and dinner service Mondays-Sundays from 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Eventually, the restaurant plans to be open all day + add breakfast.

The menu is everything you’d expect from the MasterChef. It features his signature favorites like beef wellington ($59), braised lamb shank ($48), and for the plant-based fans, a beet burger ($18). There is also a 42 ounce tomahawk steak for the ultimate carnivores — expect to dish out a whopping $145.

The menu also celebrates local seafood with Maine + Connecticut-style lobster rolls ($28), pan-seared scallops ($49), and crispy skin salmon ($39).

What did we try?
We started with a Strawberry Chocolate Negroni + the Spiced Pear cocktail. Then we shared the roasted grape flatbread with a side of fries, and split a piece of lemon cheesecake. Pro tip: sprinkle the sugared thyme over the cheesecake for an added level of flavor and texture.

The restaurant’s atmosphere is upscale + casual. The interior was designed with our city’s rich history in mind — the back bar design features the Zakim Bridge + the blue marble was selected to symbolize the Boston Harbor.
