The New England Patriots recently announced some pretty major transformations to Gillette Stadium. Beginning in early 2022, the Patriots’ home turf will undergo the most significant improvements since it first opened in 2002.

The Kraft family is funding this ambitious project, which includes a fully reimagined plaza leading into the stadium, a snazzy new HD video board, and improved concession locations + fan amenities.

Let’s break this down by the numbers:

  • $225 million. That’s the total funding for this new project. For context — the Kraft family invested around $300 million on enhancements in the first 20 years of the stadium. We’re talking the big bucks here. 💸
  • 22,000 sqft. That’s the size of the new high-definition video board. This is nearly double the size of the stadium’s south end board, and takes the cake as the largest outdoor stadium board in the country. Fans won’t be missing any of the action with this view.
  • 75,000 sqft. The size of the new year-round hospitality and function spaces, which will define the enhanced look for the north end of the stadium.
  • 218 ft. The height of the bigger, more prominent lighthouse. Plus, expect a new 360-degree observation deck providing sweeping views of the game + Patriot Place.

Plans also include revitalizing the fan entrance into the north end of the stadium + relocating the entry gates.

Despite the huge scope of this development, the project is expected to be completed in time for the 2023 NFL season. We’re keeping an eye out on additional details + photos, which will be shared in the coming months.
