The beasts of the East are at it again. After nearly making the NBA Finals three times in the last five years, the Boston Celtics are on the road to Banner 18.
Here are a few fast facts about the Celtics:
🏀 Founded in 1946 by Walter Brown
🏀76 seasons played
🏀 59 playoff appearances
🏀 17 championships
🏀 First title was won in 1957
Let’s take a quick recap of what the Eastern Conference Finals have looked like for the home team. The Celtics first had to overcome seven games with the reigning champions, the Milwaukee Bucks. Then over the weekend, they beat the Miami Heat in Game Seven, 100-96.
This is the first time in 12 years that the Celtics have advanced to the NBA Finals.
To sweeten the victory, the first-ever winner of the Larry Bird award, which is given to the MVP of the Eastern Conference finals, was the Celtics own forward Jayson Tatum.
If you’re not already as excited as Al Horford, let’s move on to San Francisco.
Game One against the Golden State Warriors is tonight in California. Tip off is scheduled for 9 p.m.
Bostonians will have to wait for the series to come to TD Garden, and you might need the help of Lucky the Leprechaun and his “pot of gold” to score tickets. Tickets for Game Three on Wed., June 8 are starting at $780 and Game Four on Fri., June 10 at $895+.
If those prices are a bit out of your shooting range, here are a few local sports bars to watch the games play out.
