“Dear Reader,”
Taylor Swift will be in town Friday, May 19-Sunday, May 21 for “The Eras Tour” at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough. The concerts will feature songs from the last 15 years, encompassing 10 albums and lots of eras.
Swifties did the hard part — getting the tickets — so we’re celebrating a few of our city’s eras. We’ll call it Boston’s Version — “nice!”
Midnights Era
Was Taylor inspired by another sleepless night, when Paul Revere took his own midnight ride? Probably not, but we can still ask the “Question...?”
Public Transit Era
Did you know that the first subway tunnel in America was the MBTA’s Tremont Street subway? It’s no “Getaway Car” but it is the third oldest still in use worldwide.
Revolutionary Era
There’s no denying Boston has a “Reputation” for getting into a little trouble throughout history. Beginning with the Boston Tea Party, sending the King the message that “We Are Never Getting Back Together” — like, ever.
Cursed Era
We know “All Too Well” that the Red Sox saw one of the longest championship droughts in baseball history from 1919 to 2004, infamously known as the “Curse of the Bambino.”
Leading Ladies Era
Boston certainly has had its share of leading men, but “Everything Has Changed” because today it’s all about the women in office with Governor Maura Healey, Lt. Governor Kim Driscoll, and Mayor Michelle Wu.
Okay, Boston — now it’s your turn. As we prepare to welcome Taylor to our city, tell us: What’s your favorite Boston Era?
