In the spirit of supporting all things local, we’ve rounded up 11 farmers markets in the Boston area where you’ll find fresh food, live music, and local vendors.

With opening dates for these markets just around the corner, we’re sharing what you need to know before you grab your totes and get to shopping.

Copley Square Farmers Market, 227-230 Dartmouth St. | Tuesdays + Fridays | 11 a.m.-6 p.m.
  • Features: Boston’s biggest farmers market hosts more than 36 local food producers and pops up right across the street from Copley Square at the McKim Plaza outside the Central Branch of the Boston Public Library.
  • Getting there: Near the Green Line Copley stop and the Orange Line Back Bay Station
  • Space: Outdoors
  • Open: May 17-Nov. 26
Boston Public Market’s Farmers Market, The Rose Kennedy Greenway, Milk and India streets | Thursdays | 2-6 p.m.
  • Features: To celebrate the new location, on June 13 the Market will be hosting a big kick-off party with live music, giveaways, and more.
  • Getting there: Near the Red Line Park Station
  • Space: Outdoors
  • Open: June 13-Oct. 24
South Boston Farmers Market, 446 West Broadway | Mondays | 11 a.m.-5 p.m.
  • Features: The South Boston market has been in operation since 2002 and the vendors are all based in Massachusetts.
  • Getting there: Near the Red Line Broadway Station
  • Space: Outdoors
  • Open: June-October
Davis Square Farmers Market, 44 Day St., Somerville | Wednesdays | 12-6 p.m.
  • Features: Shop over 24 vendors at this long-running market in the parking lot across from the Davis Square Plaza.
  • Getting there: Near the Red Line Davis Station
  • Space: Outdoors
  • Open: May 22-Nov. 27
Central Square Farmers Market, 76 Bishop Allen Dr., Cambridge | Mondays | 12-6 p.m.
  • Features: Visit this picturesque market that stretches along the Norfolk Street block, near H-Mart and Graffiti Alley, where your phone may get more action than your stomach.

  • Small Victories is now open in Southie at 400 Dorchester St. From the team behind Eastie’s The Quiet Few, this new Andrew Square spot is serving up oysters, wings, nachos, and poutine, plus a long list of whiskies. (Boston Restaurant Talk)

  • Boston’s Professional Women’s Hockey League team has advanced to the championship series for the inaugural Walter Cup after eliminating Montreal, 3-2. Next up: the team will play the winner of the Toronto-Minnesota semifinal.

  • The 2024-2025 New England Patriots schedule is official. The Pats will play the Jacksonville Jaguars in London during week seven and fans can plan for eight more home games, including the Bills, Jets, and Seahawks.

  • Cambridge is celebrating 20 years of marriage equality this weekend with a photography exhibition and live music on Friday, May 17 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Then, a special event at City Hall on Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. with Marcia Hams and Susan Shepard, the first couple to receive a same-sex marriage license.

  • John Hancock has teamed up with the MIT AgeLab for a five-year, multimillion-dollar research collaboration called the “longevity economy.” The first-of-its-kind longevity preparedness index will provide insights on financial planning, health and wellness habits + work and retirement transition planning.   • “Unforgettable” Rapper French Montana will make a stop at the House of Blues on Saturday, Aug. 17 for the “Gotta See It To Believe It Tour.” Tickets go on sale Friday, May 17 at 10 a.m.
Cause
  • Something is cooking at the Kimpton Marlowe Hotel on Monday, May 20. Cooking Live Boston will bring Iron Chef Ming Tsai’s fundraiser back to the Serrano Ballroom and he will be joined by Guy Fieri. Tickets to the interactive multi-course meal will support Family Reach, a nonprofit that financially supports families facing cancer

Boston’s only public rooftop pool opens for the season

It’s almost time to take a refreshing dip 12 stories above Back Bay.

Boston’s only rooftop pool with public access opens for the 2024 season on Friday, May 24. RTP at The Colonnade Hotel will be open to non-hotel guests Mondays through Thursdays, plus Sundays after 1 p.m., for a $55 fee. Keep in mind: The pool is 21+ after 5 p.m.

Relax in a chaise lounge or rent a private cabana. Complimentary ice water and towels are included for all guests. Bonus: There are also free sunscreen dispensers, courtesy of Impact Melanoma.

The poolside food menu features shareable apps, flatbreads, and a variety of sandwiches. There are also lobster rolls for the perfect summer bite. Plus, sip drinks like the “Rooftop Buzz” or a frosé.

RTP operates on a first come, first served basis. Read: You’ll want to arrive early to secure a spot.
