The status of sports betting in Massachusetts

Gov. Baker signed a law legalizing sports betting in Massachusetts on Aug. 10. Now, several local establishments are gearing up to gamble.

The Massachusetts Gaming Commission released a notice of intent form asking companies interested in sports betting licenses to apply by Wed., Aug. 31. Here are five Massachusetts organizations expected to be in the mix:

💸 Encore Boston Harbor

💸 Suffolk Downs

💸 MGM Springfield

💸 Plainridge Park Casino

💸 Raynham Park

Everett’s Encore has some creative plans to bring sports betting kiosks out to the parking lot + hold game watch parties in the ballroom. At a meeting on Thurs., Sept. 8, gaming commission staff will share a timeline for where regulation action could start.

We’re keeping an eye out for the official launch of legal sports betting in the Bay State. Until then, let us know — are you willing to wager or planning to pass on the gambling?
