Every time we look around, it seems like something new is popping up in Boston. Whether you’re looking for your next go-to brunch destination or a new public park to stretch your legs, we’re rounding up a few things coming soon to our city.
Developments
Allston Labworks, 250, 280 and 305 Western Ave. | Opening in 2024 | The $585 million project with King Street Properties, Brookfield Asset Management, and Mugar Enterprises will span more than four acres across Western Avenue. We can expect 530,000 sqft of lab space, 20,000 sqft of retail space, and 35 residential units.
Allston Yards, 60 Everett St. | Opening in 2024 | This 10.6-acre mixed-use, transit-oriented development will be made up of residential, office, restaurant, fitness, and retail uses, including a grocery store, and a new one-acre public community space.
South Station Tower, Atlantic Avenue | Opening in 2025 | There will be a 51-story mixed-use glass tower directly above South Station, the busiest transit hub in Boston. The tower will include 711,500 sqft of office space and 166 condo units.
Community
View Boston, 800 Boylston St. | Opening in 2023 | This new sky-high cocktail lounge and open-air roof deck will be located on the 50-52 floors of the Prudential Center. The observation decks will offer guests a bird’s-eye view of the city.
Topgolf, Dedham Street and I-95, Canton | Opening in 2023 | Topgolf’s first Massachusetts location will feature 90 climate-controlled hitting bays across three levels.
Dani’s Queer Bar, 907 Boylston St. | Opening summer 2023 | The LGBTQ+ bar will focus on serving queer women in Boston, and will be located at the former Pour House bar in Back Bay.
Arrow Street Arts, North Harvard Street | Opening in 2023 | The nonprofit is adding two new performance venues in the former location of the American Repertory Theater’s Oberon. Plans include a black box theater, expected to fit 300 guests, and a smaller studio that will fit ~100 people.
Nubian Market, 2565 Washington St., Roxbury | Opening in 2023 | This open market, cafe, and gathering space will celebrate the African diaspora through food. The team recently held a soft launch of the grocery store while it finalizes the other components of the market.
Boston Public Library Chinatown Branch, 49-63 Hudson St. | Coming soon | The City awarded $11.8 million to redevelop Parcel R-1 to create over 100 income-restricted units with 17,700 sqft of space for a new Chinatown branch of the Boston Public Library.
Boston Centers for Youth & Families Community Center, Dorchester | Opening in 2025 | This first-of-its-kind full service center for the Grove Hill neighborhood will be built from the ground up in a vacant city lot. Officials are predicting ~three years until completion and a total cost of $50-60 million.
Embrace Center, Roxbury | Opening in 2027 | The 31,000-sqft community center at Parcel 3 will offer performance, gallery, and work spaces.
Cafe Gloria will bring a latte of caffeinated drinks to East Boston.

Café Gloria, East Boston | Opening in 2023 | Will Isaza, the bar director for spots like Blossom Bar + Birds of Paradise, is opening a neighborhood coffee bar that will serve coffee, espresso, canned cold brew, and family recipe-inspired snacks.
The Eaves, 1 Bow Market Way, Somerville | Opening spring 2023 | The team behind the Vietnamese coffee shop Cicada Coffee Bar in Cambridge will bring a pop-up restaurant and bar inside Bow Market.
Caveau, 1-3 Center Plz. | Opening spring 2023 | From the team behind local favorites like Yvonne’s, Mariel, and Lolita is a new project that is expected to provide a nightclub atmosphere.
Grace by Nia, 60 Seaport Blvd. | Opening in 2023 | This Seaport spot will combine Southern soul food with New England roots and live music. Think: Hush puppies, corn muffins, and lots of seafood.
Fields West, 87 Glenville Ave., Allston | Opening spring 2023 | The restaurant will host gallery nights, live music, and a rotation of artworks available for purchase to support local charities. The globally inspired menu includes small plates, charcuterie, and dishes like beet tartare and sesame noodles.
Josephine, 515 Somerville Ave., Somerville | Opening spring 2023 | The new restaurant inside the Cambria Hotel will offer contemporary pizzas and classic Italian dishes.
Widowmaker Brewery, 190 N. Beacon St., Brighton | Opening in 2023 | The local brewery is opening a second location in the former Brato Brewhouse space and has teamed up with the Bone and Bread food truck.
Hobgoblin, 48 Temple Pl., Downtown Crossing | Opening spring 2023 | Located in the former Stoddard’s space, this gastropub and piano bar will serve up “Asian fusion tapas.” Think: Small bites, burgers, and noodle dishes.
Umbria, 250 Hanover St. | Opening spring 2023 | This two-story North End restaurant is taking over the space of Ristorante Fiore. The menu of the returning Italian lounge will include steakhouse cuisine with “a Miami-style rooftop deck.”
Scores, 166 Canal St. | Opening spring 2023 | Our sports bar scene is growing with this reimagined West End space. Expect bites like the “Tatum Tot Poutine” and smash patty burgers.
Petula’s, 81 L. St. | Opening spring 2023 | This South Boston gathering spot will open with artisanal pizzas and creative cocktails for dinner, with brunch service coming soon.
Michette, 164 Broadway, Somerville | Opening spring 2023 | This French-style bakery will offer fresh sourdough, salted caramel canneles, and buckwheat chocolate chunk cookies.
Savr, 150 Seaport Blvd. | Opening spring 2023 | The restaurant inside the Seaport’s St. Regis Residences will dish out creative comfort classics and fresh seafood.
ButterBird, 130 Arsenal Yards Blvd., Watertown | Opening summer 2023 | From the celebrity chef Jason Santos, this new Arsenal Yards spot will be open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, serving up breakfast sandwiches on biscuits, fried chicken sandwiches, and beignets.
Eastern Standard, 771 Beacon St. | Opening in 2023 | The Fenway restaurant is making a comeback in three parts: a restaurant, cafe, and oyster bar, all located within the Bower apartment complex that opened in 2020.
Hook + Line, 10 Fan Pier | Opening fall 2023 | This new restaurant and fish market will bring a stylish bar, raw bar, dining room, and harborside patio to the Seaport.
Joia Boston, 195 State St. | Opening spring 2023 | This Gatsby-inspired eatery will serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner service with traditional Italian recipes like spaghetti carbonara and caprese salad.
Stubby’s, 43 Northern Ave. | Opening spring 2023 | The Nantucket-based restaurant will bring its fast-casual vibes to all-day breakfast service, plus lunch and dinner, in the Seaport neighborhood.
Education
Harvard Research Enterprise Campus, 100-112 Western Ave. | Construction begins in 2023 | The 900,000-sqft campus will include retail, residential, office, and lab space, as well as a hotel, conference center, and restaurant.
Charlestown High School Track and Field, 240 Medford St., Charlestown | Opening in fall 2023 | The turf carpet and track at the local school’s football field will be updated over the summer.
Boston University LGBTQ+ Resource Center, 808 Commonwealth Ave. | Opening fall 2023 | The local university plans to open a space for members of the LGBTQ+ community and offer career workshops, mentorship opportunities, and other programming.
Recreation
Boston Common | Big changes are coming over the next decade to America’s oldest park — including an expanded visitor center, more restrooms, a dine-in restaurant, and more accessible pathways. This summer, a new pop-up beer garden is expected to add a performance stage through a partnership with Trillium Brewing and students from Emerson College.
Franklin Park | A $23 million capital investment will transform Boston’s largest park with upgraded trails, play areas, athletic fields, and picnic sites. Construction is expected to begin in 2024.
Reconnecting Chinatown, Shawmut Avenue and Washington Street | The City of Boston was awarded $1.8 million in federal funding to create a new community space in Chinatown in the area known as Parcel 21. The community is completing a study to add a possible park in the sky to the area above the highway.
O’Day Playground, 75 West Newton St. | The South End playground reconstruction will update the space with a variety of activities, including a water spray feature, teen and adult exercise equipment, and an inclusive basketball court.

Yardbird, 100 Worcester Rd., Framingham | Opening spring 2023 | The first Boston-area location for the outdoor furniture is opening down the street from the Natick Mall.
A Sanctuary Cafe, 80 Charles St., Beacon Hill | Opening fall 2023 | This cozy cat cafe will combine locally sourced coffee with a micro-bookstore concept.
Blu Dot, 139 Seaport Blvd. | Coming soon | Shop modern and beautiful home decor crafted for your personality and purpose.
Residential
1234-1240 Soldiers Field Road | This mix-use project will build four new buildings — three residential, totaling over 500 condos and apartments, and one 11-story hotel on two connected sites. The project will feature 100% income-restricted housing and have retail space on the ground floor.
Flat 9 at Whittier | Mayor Wu and City officials broke ground on the final phase of the affordable housing development at the former Whittier Street Apartments in Lower Roxbury. Flat 9 at Whittier will create 316 mixed-income apartments and new commercial space.

Park-9 Dog Bar, 48 Waters Ave., Everett | New England’s first dog bar is now open in Boston, and it’s a doggone good time. Enjoy sips at the bar while your dog has a pup snack or plays in the off-leash area.
Lehrhaus, 425 Washington St., Somerville | The combination Jewish tavern and library offers creative dishes like fish and chips with Amba vinegar and mac and cheese kugel.
Tongwood, 31A Harvard St., Brookline | This art studio and gallery offers a creative space for evening paint classes, guided by an instructor. Check out the paintings the BOStoday team made.
Foundation Kitchen, 32 Cambridge St., Charlestown | Doors to this 2,000-sqft food hall and commercial kitchen space for local restaurants officially opened in February.
Community
City Hall Plaza, 1 City Hall Sq. | The renovated seven-acre plaza is one of the City’s largest civic spaces. For the last 50 years, the public area has hosted events ranging from sports celebrations to seasonal cultural festivals.
“Upstairs at Bow,” Bow Market Way, Somerville | Now open | “Upstairs at Bow” includes an outdoor balcony, private bar, and main room that can accommodate up to 110 guests. The marketplace is currently accepting event booking inquiries.
Daily Table, 474 River St., Mattapan | Now open | This nonprofit is dedicated to bringing access to fresh food to communities across Boston with affordable grocery stores.
Dining
Hue, 90 Exeter St. | The two-level cocktail bar and restaurant in Back Bay offers three different areas to explore, from a speakeasy space to a supper club area downstairs.
Silver Dove Afternoon Tea, 24 Tremont St. | This afternoon tea room serves up pots of tea, fresh scones, and boozy beverages. The set menu starts at $48 per person and the tearoom is open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday.
Puritan Oyster Bar, 1164-1166 Cambridge St., Cambridge | The 30-seat eatery from the team behind Puritan & Co. at Cambridge Crossing serves up fresh oysters and other local seafood dishes.
Barlette, 318 Harvard St., #11, Brookline | The new reservation-only BYOB bar is located upstairs from the sister restaurant Cobble. Guests can expect a four-course menu of bar snacks and seasonal mixers on tap to pair with your drinks.
Roust Deli, 148 Mount Auburn St., Cambridge | A new cafe has opened in the former Darwin’s location, thanks to the team behind Tokava Coffee in Jamaica Plain. The hybrid eatery features a 20-seat cafe and a small grocery selection.
Comfort Kitchen, 611 Columbia Rd., Dorchester | The 30-seat Upham’s Corner space is a cozy cafe by day and restaurant with a full bar by night. The team serves up global comfort food using ingredients and flavors of the African diaspora.
Borrachito Taqueria and Spirits, 70 Pier 4 Blvd., Suite 270 | The New York-based taqueria has moved into the Seaport, serving up tacos all day and cocktails late at night in the speakeasy bar.
Bar Vlaha, 1653 Beacon St., Brookline | This concept comes from the team behind local favorites like Greco, Hecate, and Krasi. The menu is inspired by the Vlachs, a nomadic group of shepherds from rural Greece (think: savory pies and roasted lamb).

Five Iron Golf, One Washington St. | This high-tech urban golf experience is designed for golfers and non-golfers alike with memberships, leagues, and special events.

Rozzie Bound Co-op, 739 South St., Roslindale | The new brick and mortar location of the community-owned bookstore is open Wednesday-Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Molly’s Bookstore, 667-669 Main St., Melrose | This two-story bookstore features curated books and gifts, plus a decked-out kids section.
Glossier Boston, 120 Newbury St. | Shop skincare, makeup, body care, and fragrances at this new retail location.
